On March 16, 2024, rent regulation came into effect in the Stressed Residential Market Area, which includes 140 municipalities in Catalonia, one of which is the city of Barcelona. Since then, the Barcelona Metropolitan Housing Observatory has been producing quarterly reports to monitor developments in the city. This report focuses on the first quarter of 2025. The reference indicators are those published by the Housing Secretariat of the Government of Catalonia, complemented by other sources that help contextualize and analyze various aspects of Barcelona’s residential system.
